Fruity Summer PJ Shorts

What is more summery than fruit print fabric. Now that summer is officially here, I thought I’d share these PJ shorts I made from cherry and strawberry fabric.

Fruity fabric

I used a Melly Sews free PJ shorts pattern as a base for these. The first pair in white are simple boxer shorts with a fold over elastic waist.

Cherry shorts

The strawberry pair have in seam pockets and a fold over elastic waist.

Strawberry shorts

For the inseam pockets I drafted pockets and attached them along the side seam roughly 5 cm below the raw edge, so they would start just below the waistband.

Inseam pockets

So that the inside waistband would not have a raw edge, I folded over 1/2 cm and zigzag stitched the elastic to the waistband.

Elastic waistband

Then I folded over the elastic waistband to encase the top of the pocket in the waistband so they would stay put, and top stitched.

Inseam pockets

These are super comfy and go from sleep to lounge wear, and they are a quick sew, with just 50cm of fabric 🍓🍒 Happy Summer 🌻
